The sidequests I will admit are not as memorable as 0, but then again my memory could just be failing me as this was my first Yakuza. MesuKing and RC Racing were my absolute favorites as well!

Even though its additions are few and far between, I still had a great time with them. The minigames in retrospect really were few in comparison to 0 which I cannot complain cuz obviously the OG didn't have that much to begin with either. RNG plays a big role into Majima Everywhere, and so it'd probably take a lot longer than necessary to unlock the dragon move set which is a shame because I've heard it was an OP move set that I would have loved to exploited, but its okay because it was a necessary style for me to use to beat the game! My only gripe with it is the reliance of beating certain costumed Majima's to unlock all of the Dragon style move set. I'm sure some OG fans have protested against this being implemented into the final product, but honestly it really just enriches the experience even if it adds little to nothing to Kiryu and Majima's relationship or their background. Since this was my first Yakuza game I have a strong sentimental attachment to it, but also because it really feels and looks like no other game and I think is one of my more favorite looking Yakuza games.Ĭombat from 0 also make a come back which I obviously didn't get to experience at the time, but I still felt overall the combat was very nice and responsive and never failed to entertain me with its absurdity! Speaking of absurdity, Majima Everywhere is literally one of the BEST things they could have ever done to this remake. I knew I'd have some enjoyment as the reviews looked promising, but after experiencing it for myself I can confidently say this game was properly remade.

Since this is a remake of the first entry I wasn't quite sure what to expect seeing as I've never played the original for the PS2. I definitely think starting with Kiwami is just as okay as 0 mostly because my experienced wasn't as ruined as I thought it would be in retrospect. I know there was left over baggage brought over from 0, but overall I felt like I didn't miss too much context that was added into Kiwami. For most, Yakuza 0 would be their first game they experience into the franchise, but for me I foolishly chose Yakuza Kiwami as my first however, it was not a regrettable experience.
